partner02_universitat_grazThe University of Graz, founded in 1585, is Austria’s second oldest university and one of the largest institutions of higher education in Austria. Numerous outstanding scientists, among them six Nobel Prize winners, have taught and researched here.
With approximately 22,000 students and 3,000 employees, the University of Graz makes an essential contribution to the vibrant life of the Styrian capital. The geographical situation promotes lively scientific, economic and cultural exchange with South Eastern Europe. Through decades of intensive collaboration with institutions and individuals in that region the University of Graz has acquired profound knowledge about South Eastern Europe, which has become a main interdisciplinary and strategic focus.
Diversity and a wide scope – that is what characterises the education programmes at the University of Graz. Students can choose from a total of seventy fields of studies. Numerous bachelor, master and diploma programmes have been established in order to provide compatibility with international systems and mobility for students. The programmes provide a sound preparation for traditional vocational fields and have innovative potentials for contemporary areas of work. Selected doctoral programmes create an ideal basis for a scientific career. Joint Degree Programmes with international partner institutions as well as summer schools ensure the internationalisation of teaching and research.
The studies and scientific disciplines are assigned to six faculties: Catholic Theology; Law; Social and Economic Sciences; Humanities; Natural Sciences; Environmental and Regional Sciences and Education.
As a modern scientific institution, the University of Graz pools first-rate research in numerous projects and co-operations on a national as well as on an international level. Main research focuses include Biosciences, Nanosciences and Mathematical Optimisation. Collaboration with more than 500 partner institutions worlwide (300 in Europe), memberships in diverse university networks such as the Coimbra Group and the Utrecht Network, mobility programmes as well as more than 2,000 students from all over the world embody the integration of the University of Graz in a global network. The lively exchange with other cultures and the international co-operation enrich the scientific life and ensure the quality of teaching and research.

Unfortunately there is no call foreseen for the year 2011. However, we hope to be able to launch a new call for Monesia scholarship applications in the year 2012 for the academic course 2012/2013.
